Donna Karan is just one of the many famous raw foodists. People choose to go on the raw foods diet for many reasons, from eating a clean diet to losing weight. For Donna Karan, following this lifestyle helped her to lose twenty pounds while she was in her mid-fifties.

Introduced to the concept back in 2001 by Jill Pettijohn, the designer followed the lead of her fellow celebrities including Tom Cruise and Drew Barrymore, eating more fruits, vegetables, and nuts.

This way of living is just what it sounds like: people eat raw food, more precisely, food not heated more than 118 degrees. The idea is to eat food in its natural state, so that means no processed chips or sugary cookies are on the menu.

Although this may seem difficult to stick with, Donna Karan sees it as an opportunity to listen to her body. She mainly follows the raw food lifestyle, but when her body wants a steak, she will let herself have a steak. By indulging in her cravings every now and then, she is able to stick with her healthy way of living.
